Mission
The mission of the Arts Council of Dickinson County as a 501c3 non-profit is to act as a coordinating, educational, and service organization to foster, promote, encourage and increase the knowledge of the arts in Dickinson County.
Profile
Established in 1981 as a non-profit organization, the Arts Council of Dickinson County hosts activities and programs for members of the community. There are annual events, such as a photography competition, children's art instruction with exhibit, Annual Film Festival, activity tent at the Symphony at Sunset, Christmas brunch, to name a few. We continue to do the Picture Person program, which is still our longest running program, run completely by community volunteers. The art exhibit space at the Sunflower Hotel is an ideal place to feature artwork that was created exclusively by local residents. The Arts Council also serve as a springboard by providing the space for art and music instruction, which has led to paid opportunities, furthering the talents of our local artists. The annual fundraiser is approaching, with the hopes that we will earn enough to fund programs and cover expenses. Our public art projects have attracted attention and brought excitement to the community. There are opportunities for volunteering and there are many, many creative ideas that can be carried out through this organization.
