Specific Need

People often wonder, “what’s going to happen to the museum when you’re gone, Verl?”  The answer to that is short and involves our endowment fund at the Community Foundation.  The generous donation of Ralph Snyder provides for minimum annual operating costs.  With additional contributions and the match this year, we will be able to cover nearly all of our monthly expenses.  We’ve written grants to cover projects such as the electronic sign and replacing all bulbs with LED's.  We're adding additional lighting on display walls and have completed the rebuilding of the sidewalk on the north side of the building.  Next will be the upgrading of our city park.  Again this year, there’s an opportunity to help us grow that fund with a match from the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. 

On March 21st, ONE DAY ONLY, the Foundation will match contributions to our museum.  Donate Dickinson County Day is to help nonprofit organizations and agencies grow their endowed funds, and therefore, become sustainable. The Community Foundation will DOUBLE any contribution up to $5000 to the Talmage Historical Society and Museum. Donate Dickinson County Day is a fantastic way for participating nonprofits to grow their endowed funds exponentially. 

The purpose of an endowed fund is to send a signal to the community and donors that the organization is thinking long-term and is building assets for its own future sustainability, and the Community Foundation wants to help in this effort. So, on March 21st, your DONATIONS WILL DOUBLE to make a Difference.” 

The Community Foundation is an organization that looks at the long view.  It tries to determine what our county needs to be more vibrant, more educated, and a more wonderful place to live! One way to do this is through a match day program like Donate Dickinson County Day. So be prepared to GIVE ON MARCH 21st through the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. YOU DONATE, WE DOUBLE, AND AMAZING THINGS HAPPEN.
