CASA the 8th Judicial District

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

Donations help CASA of the 8th Judicial District to recruit, train, certify, and support CASA Volunteer Advocates on behalf of the local abused, neglected, and/or trafficked children we serve.  Our program is 100% funded by grants and donations.

Mission

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of the 8th Judicial District's mission is to advocate for the best interests of the abused, neglected, and trafficked children in the court system.  We strive to help children have safe, permanent, and nurturing homes.

Profile

The number one goal of our porgram is to serve every Child In Need of Care eligible for our services.  To accomplish this, more Volunteer Advocates are needed.  CASA Volunteer Advocates make sure that the children we serve do not get lost in the overburdened legal and social service systems or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. CASA Volunteer Advocates stay with each case until it is closed.  For many abused/neglected children, their CASA Volunteer Advocate will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.  Independent research demonstrates that children with a CASA Volunteer Advocate are less likely to spend time in long-term foster care, have fewer placements, and are 50% less likely to reenter care.  According to Judge Jeanne Meurer of Austin, TX; “CASA is an invaluable partner in reducing upheavals and children obtaining safe, permanent homes”. Having a CASA Volunteer Advocate makes a huge difference in the life of a local child.  https://nationalcasagal.org/our-impact/
