Talmage Library and Event Center

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

The Talmage Library and Event Center board of directors has elected to open the Talmage Library Endowment Fund through the Community Foundation of Dickinson County.

“The best effort all of us can make for our community is to leave a tangible legacy, something useful for those who follow us,” stated Library Board President Shawni Sheets. “I believe our library/school renovation project is important to the future success of our county as it provides a place for events, and a place for families and organizations to gather, so I hope alumni and county residents will donate to the Talmage Library Endowment Fund.”

The purpose of an endowed fund is to send a signal to the community and donors that the organization or agency is thinking long-term and is building assets for its own future sustainability, and the Community Foundation wants to help in this effort. So, on March 15, your Donations will Double to make a Difference.

The Community Foundation will double up to $5,000 in donations for each nonprofit, so be prepared to give on March 15 through the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. You donate, CFDC doubles your donation, and amazing things happen!

The methods for donating include in person at the Community Foundation, 418 NW Third Street, Abilene on March 15 or online at www.donatedickinson.com and click on Talmage Library & Event Center on March 15, or send a check to PO Box 807 to arrive prior to March 15 and we will add it to our funds that day.  To learn more, call Shawni Sheets at 785-643-9126. Make all checks to the Community Foundation of Dickinson County.

We thank you!

Mission

Talmage Public Library Mission Statement

The mission of the Talmage Public Library (also known as the Talmage Library & Event Center) is to improve and enrich the lives of all people living in Dickinson County communities through provision of education, information, recreation, and a place to host community and family events. We value not only our readers, but the citizens of Dickinson County, and we respond to their needs by providing a clean and inviting home for their literary, educational, professional, and entertainment needs.

Our Vision

To be the welcoming heart of our county where all come to learn, create, discover, and connect through library resources and events.

To Donors

To help us realize the full potential of our vision, we need your help. There are four ways you can assist us, and by doing one or more of any of these, you can make a difference in Dickinson County.

  1. Donate to the Talmage Library Endowment Fund, especially on March 15 when the amount of your donation will be doubled.
  2. Donate books, movies, music, and games to help us grow our collection.
  3. Donate funds to support projects throughout the year. Current projects include new HVAC and repair of gym floor.
  4. Donate your time as a volunteer to devote part of a day to the library.

We appreciate any assistance you can offer us!

Profile

The Talmage Library & Event Center is a place where people and organizations from all over Dickinson County can host any size of gathering for family, friends, events, and organizations.

People have used our facility for a variety of activities, including anniversaries, birthdays, family reunions, family and corporate holiday events, bridal showers, baby showers, pickleball, and concerts. The Dickinson County Historical Society plans to host next year’s Statehood Ball in our facility.

Why are people so eager to use our building? We have a kitchen, dining room, game room, gym, adult library, children’s library, and a stage...not to mention lots of space to spread out!

We are a 501c3 nonprofit so we don’t charge a fee. We just ask that people consider making a donation to help us defray some utility costs. Cooling, heating, and lighting our large facility is our major expense.
